There Is A Discourse On The Establishment Of The Coordinating Minister For Infrastructure In The Prabowo Era, Basuki Responds Like This

The issue of the establishment of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure in the era of President-elect Prabowo Subianto. This ministry is rumored to oversee a number of ministries, including the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

Responding to this, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono assessed that an organization is a vehicle to achieve the vision and mission that has been set. Thus, the formation of a new ministry and institution is part of the rights of the relevant leaders.

"Regarding the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure, I think once again, the organization is a vehicle for management. So, it depends on the leadership to form," said Basuki when met by reporters at his office, Friday, October 4.

Basuki assessed that it would not be a problem if the next government divided a number of ministries or formed new bodies. He admitted that he did not know the final number of the ministries next year which is said to be 'fatting'.

"It's like the Ministry of Finance or the ministry of the ministry, the Minister of Public Works with housing. It's just an organization," he said.

"So there are more and more, the Minister, right, as well as the coordinator, the life span must also be, the previous 4 may be 6. Because the ministry is from 34 to 54, not final, right? Don't know me yet, but I think this organization can still work," he continued.

Basuki also has not been able to project whether the existence of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure will make the government more effective or not. According to him, this depends on who will occupy the position later.

"I think, yes, it depends on the Coordinating Minister later. Now if you compare it between the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, right, the level is the same," he said.

Basuki was also reluctant to answer when asked if he might continue to become a minister in the next government. According to him, this question is difficult to answer.

"Don't ask me, the answer is difficult," joked Basuki.
