JAKARTA - KAI Logistics, a subsidiary of KAI, continues to strengthen information technology adaptation in supporting the service business process. One of them is through Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology which is applied to more than 2,000 container units for Container Train services through the KALOG Plus segment.
President Director of KAI Logistics Fredi Firmansyah said that in the early stages, the company had installed an RFID tag on the container and prepared an RFID reader at the entrance gate at the Sungai Lagoa terminal, Jakarta and in the near future it would be continued at the JICT terminal, Tanjung Priok and other terminals on the islands of Java and Sumatra.
Fredi explained that this RFID application aims to ensure the ease of tracking containers through automatic recording when mobilizing entry/out of the terminal.
"One of the steps is to achieve an optimal supply chain management process, namely by automating the process through the application of technology such as RFID devices. By implementing the RFID, the company's operational process becomes more efficient and effective, so it will have an impact on the supply chain management which is more optimal," he said in an official statement, Thursday, October 3.
The implementation of RFID in the Supply Chain Management (SCM) process provides significant benefits for companies, especially in the logistics industry. The application of RFID is able to increase efficiency, visibility, and accuracy in managing SCM.
"In the future, by using RFID to track and monitor goods, companies can also identify and reduce waiting times so that they can increase responses to consumer demand, as well as optimize overall supply chain efficiency," he explained.
Not only in Jakarta, but Fredi said that the implementation of RFID technology in this container will be implemented at all Logistics KAI terminals both in Java and Sumatra. Until December 2024, KAI Logistics targets the installation of RFID tags in 836 containers in Java for container train services.
