IKN VVIP Airport Targeted To Be Completed By The End Of 2024, Here's The Latest Progress

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Highways said that the latest progress for the construction of VVIP Airport in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

Quoted from the upload on the official Instagram @pupr_binamarga, Thursday, October 3, the runway or runway for the VVIP Airport project on IKN has reached a length of 2,200 meters, approaching the end target of 3,000 meters.

Some of the main facilities that have been built include the VVIP terminal with progress reaching 90.16 percent, the VVIP terminal at 77.06 percent and the ATC tower with progress at 53.71 percent.

Then, the construction of administrative and operational buildings with a progress of 61.03 percent and PKP-PK buildings with a progress of 68.71 percent.

The overall progress or single year contract has reached 76.35 percent and is targeted for completion by December 31, 2024.

"Want to go to IKN by plane? Get ready, yes, Nusantara Airport will be completed by the end of this year along with road access that #MmudahkanJalanmu and its facilities!" explained PUPR.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had made his first landing at IKN VVIP Airport, East Kalimantan, Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Jokowi said the landing went smoothly.

"Yesterday, we made the first landing after several attempts. Once it went down, yes, the runway was smooth, everything went smoothly," said Jokowi when inaugurating the Groundbreaking of Forest Terrace by Plataran Indonesia on IKN as seen on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Wednesday, September 25.

Jokowi admitted that before carrying out the inaugural landing at IKN, he had asked the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi regarding airport readiness.

"Yesterday I asked the Minister of Transportation (Budi Karya) it is true that it is safe, it is true, it is safe. Okay, I landed in Nusantara Airport," he said.

However, said Jokowi, the terminal to the runway or runway of IKN VVIP Airport will only be completed in December 2024. Thus, later large-bodied aircraft can land there.
