Babel Farmers' Exchange Rate Increases By 0.81 Percent

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province stated that the Babel Islands farmer's exchange rate (NTP) in September 2024 was 138.60, an increase of 0.81 percent compared to the previous month of 137.48.

"The increase in NTP due to the increase in the price index received by farmers (IT) was 0.45 percent, while the price index paid by farmers (Ib) fell 0.36 percent," said Head of BPS Babel Toto Haryanto Silitonga as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 2.

He said the increase in NTP in six districts throughout the Babel Islands Province in September this year was influenced by the increase in indexes in the people's plantation sub-sector of 1.25 percent and livestock up 0.57 percent.

"On the other hand, the decrease in the index occurred in the food crop sub-sector by 1.22 percent, horticulture 3.69 percent and fishery sub-sector by 0.34 percent," he said.

Toto explained, It is an indicator that shows the price fluctuations of various agricultural commodities produced by farmers.

There are five sub-sectors of agricultural products that have recorded price developments.

In September 2024, in general, It increased by 0.45 percent compared to It in August 2024, from 165.24 to 165.98.

The increase in It in September this year was due to the increase in It in the sub-sector of 0.88 percent of people's plantations and 0.49 percent of livestock.

"The decline occurred in food crops at 1.65 percent, horticultural plants 4.05 percent and fisheries decreased by 0.71 percent," he said.

According to him, through the price index paid, farmers (Ib) can see the fluctuations in the prices of goods and services consumed by rural communities, especially farmers who are the largest part of rural communities, as well as fluctuations in the prices of goods and services needed to produce agricultural products.

"In September this year, in general, Ib fell 0.36 percent when compared to the previous month, from 120.19 to 119.76, due to the decline in Ib value in all sub-sectors," he said.
