JAKARTA - SKK Migas together with Medco E&P Natuna Ltd Cooperation Contract Contract Contractors. (Medco E&P) meets the target of using the domestic component level (TKDN) in the tanker conversion project to Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) Marlin Natuna.

The first FPSO conversion project in Indonesia carried out by PT Hanochem Tiaka Samudera and PT PaxOcean Batam was able to achieve the TKDN target of 80 percent and was carried out by 1,386 Indonesian workers or 99 percent of the total workforce involved.

Deputy Exploitation of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) Wahju Wibowo through video shows from Jakarta during the inaugural FPSO Marlin Natuna cruise event at the First Shipyard PaxOcean, Batam City, Riau Islands (Kepri), Monday appreciated TKDN's achievements in working on the Marlin Natuna FPSO Project.

According to him, the construction of the Marlin Natuna FPSO is able to create a multiplier effect for the national economy and especially the regional economy.

"With the total investment needed to work on the Forel-Branang project as a whole reaching around US$236 million or around Rp. 3.5 trillion, we hope that the investment will not only succeed in realizing upstream oil and gas production facilities, but also be able to create a multiplier effect for the economy and create jobs," Wahju said, quoted from Antara, Monday, September 30.

"Menurut dia, capaian tersebut menjadi bukti bahwa industri upstream oil and gas memiliki komitmen yang tinggi terhadap pengembangan industri dalam negeri dan terus berkontribusi dan memberikan multiplier effect," ungkapnya.

Meanwhile, Medco E&P President Director Ronald Gunawan said the achievement of the TKDN target in the Marlin Natuna FPSO Project was the result of a good collaboration between the upstream oil and gas industry and the domestic industry.

"The success of achieving TKDN by 80 percent and the maximum absorption of labor from Indonesia proves that with good synergy, we can build an independent and competitive upstream oil and gas industry. I express my gratitude and highest appreciation to all parties involved in this project," said Ronald.

In detail, PT Hanochem's Contract and Procurement Manager Juli Indira Wardhana explained that cooperation with various local companies was carried out, including producing critical components such as cables, burning flare gas (flaring tips), and pressure vessel (pressure vessel).

"Not only that, all of the FPSO modulate fabrication is also carried out by local companies in the Batam area by involving experienced local workers and fresh graduates who are given the opportunity to contribute to this national project," said Juli.

Regarding the absorption of Indonesian labor, Managing Director and PaxOcean Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Thai Yong said that the work on the FPSO Marlin Natuna project also gave fresh graduates the opportunity to participate in order to gain valuable experience.

"We hope that they can also share the knowledge gained from this project with other colleagues so that it triggers the spirit of building and advancing Indonesia in the oil and gas industry," he said.

Marlin Natuna is the first tanker conversion project to FPSO in Indonesia. FPSO Marlin Natuna, which has a production capacity of 250,000 barrels, will accommodate oil from the Forel project in Natuna, Riau Islands (Kepri). The Forel project is the largest oil project to be onstream in 2024 with an estimated production of 10,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD).
