The Movement Of Sheet Port Passengers Rose 26 Percent During The Mandalika MotoGP Event

PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) stated that passenger movements at Lembar Port increased by 26 percent from the comparison with last year during the momentum of the 2024 MotoGP event from 22-28 September 2024 at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.

ASDP Corporate Secretary Shelvy Arifin said, since early September 2024, ASDP has been preparing to anticipate a significant increase in the number of passengers during the MotoGP event.

"The movement of passengers reached 26,996 people, an increase of 26 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 21,413 people," said Shelvy as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 30.

He conveyed that ASDP as the main crossing service provider has a big responsibility to support the success of this international class motorcycle racing event by ensuring operational readiness across lines.

He said, one of ASDP's main focuses is at Lembar Harbor, West Lombok Regency, which serves the Lembar strategic route, West Lombok Regency, to and from Padangbai, Bali.

He estimates that during the MotoGP event the number of passengers jumped two to three times from normal days with the potential for passenger movement of up to 14,000 people per day.

In an effort to anticipate a surge in passengers, he explained, ASDP has coordinated with the Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD) as the authorized regulator in managing the ship's schedule. During the MotoGP event, around 22 to 24 units of seaworthy ships will be dynamically operated.

"In normal conditions, according to arrangements from BPTD, there are 13 ships operated every day. However, when there is a surge, the number of fleets can be increased by more than 20 units, adjusting the situation on the ground," said Shelvy.

On Friday, September 27, he said, it was the peak of the flow crossing from Bali to Lombok.

According to him, this condition reflects the high enthusiasm of the public to witness the prestigious racing event, where the total number of passengers reached 4,486 people and vehicles amounted to 1,462 units.

Based on data from Padangbai Port, Bali for the period Saturday (28/9), there were 3,631 passengers crossing to Lembar or a decrease of 19 percent compared to the previous day which amounted to 4,486 people.

The number of two-wheeled vehicles crossing from Bali Island to Lombok reached 982 units of vehicles, a decrease of 9 percent compared to Friday, September 27, which recorded 1,082 units of vehicles.

For four-wheeled vehicles, 190 units were recorded, down 21 percent compared to the previous day which amounted to 240 units.

The total number of vehicles recorded reached 1,292 units or decreased by 12% compared to the H period which recorded 1,462 units of vehicles.

The total number of passengers crossing from Bali to Lombok during the D-5 period from Sunday 22 Septemebr to Saturday 28 September reached 26,996 people.

The total number of two-wheeled vehicles was 6,461 units, four-wheeled vehicles reached 1,294 units, and the total number of vehicles reached 8,794 units.
