JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) and Chevron are ready to conduct geothermal exploration in the Way Ratai Geothermal Working Area (WKP).

This exploration activity will be carried out through PT Cahaya Anagata Energy (CAE) which is a joint venture company (JVC) between Chevron and PGE. CAR is known to have received a Geothermal License (IPB) for WKP Way Ratai, Lampung from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

PGE President Director Julfi Hadi said the project was supported by an investment commitment of 28.85 million US dollars for the exploration stage.

"WKP Way Ratai is part of a major strategy to strengthen PGE's geothermal development portfolio. We are committed to continuing to work with strategic partners in ensuring the development of sustainable geothermal energy resources and providing great benefits to the community," he said in a statement to the media, Thursday, September 26.

After officially obtaining permission for WKP Way Ratai, PT CAE will soon begin the initial stage of developing geothermal energy in the region.

This process begins with exploration survey activities as a strategic step in ensuring the readiness of the working area before entering the further development and production phase.

This exploration survey will include geological, geophysical, and geochemical (3G) studies to support the development of PLTP in the future.

"This Geothermal License is an important step for our company to contribute to the development of clean and renewable energy in Indonesia. We are committed to carrying out exploration surveys with high safety and environmental standards," said President Director of PT CAE Wahyu Budiarto.

This IPB is the first to be processed online through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, marking a breakthrough in bureaucratic efficiency in the energy sector.
