JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia said Indonesia would not be able to achieve the target of the new renewable energy mix (EBT) without commitment from various parties.

"So friends, to push for new and renewable energy, this requires a strong commitment. Not just omon-omon," Bahlil said at the Green Initiative Converence event at the Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 25.

As is known, one way for Indonesia to achieve zero carbon emissions or Net Zero Emission (NZE) in 2060 is to shift fossil energy to new and renewable energy (EBT).

In pursuing the carbon emissions target and the EBT mix, said Bahlil, it cannot only be done with ordinary business models, it must really take serious attention.

"Trust me, until the chicken grows teeth, if we only talk about the business concept as usual, it will never be realized if there is no strong commitment," he said.

"So the concept is good, natural resources are good, but if there is no high commitment for us to execute, this is like missing the moon. It will never be realized," continued Bahlil.

Bahlil emphasized that the Indonesian government under the leadership of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has the attention to go there. He said this would also be continued by the elected president Prabowo Subianto.

Furthermore, Bahlil admitted that he had the task of compiling a roadmap for implementing green energy by Jokowi and Prabowo.

"Pak Prabowo and Pak Jokowi have told me, immediately make a roadmap for implementation towards green energy, including electric cars, electric batteries, we will convert fossil motors (using energy) into electric motors," he said.

According to Bahlil, the shift in energy from fossils to green energy or EBT will also open up new jobs. Although, he admitted that at the initial stage, large investments were needed.

And this, if it's green energy recently, we can create 1 million jobs. It's amazing. Our country's revenue will increase. Initially, it really needed an expensive capex," he explained.
