JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially laid the first stone or groundbreaking for the first foreign investor project in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, Wednesday, September 25.

Previously, most foreign investors entered IKN through partnerships with local companies, this time foreign investor projects entered purely and directly.

The investor is Delonix Group from China who will invest in IKN by opening a mixed use property project.

The investor from the Bamboo Curtain country has disbursed an investment of IDR 500 billion and will build an area of 24,000 square meters.

Jokowi said Delonix was a foreign company that became a pioneer to invest in IKN. It is hoped that Delonix's entry can attract other investors.

"With this investment in IKN, Delonix Group is included as a pioneering foreign company that invests in IKN and this will have an impact on trust in other investors to immediately enter IKN," said Jokowi when inaugurating the groundbreaking Delonix Nusantara at IKN, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Wednesday.

Jokowi said that currently foreign investments have begun to come to IKN. This means that there is foreign trust in the development of Indonesia's new capital city.

Investors are also starting to believe that Nusantara is an attractive area for investment.

"It seems very well that investments from foreign countries are starting to come from being trusted that the archipelago is an interesting location for an investment," he said.
