PGN: The Household Jargas Program Can Be A Substitution For Non-Subsidized LPG Imports Of 83.5 Million Kilograms

PT Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN) said that the gas network program for households (jargas) will directly reduce the financial deficit and substitution of non-subsidized Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) imports, which is 83.5 million kilograms per year.

"Through the conversion of LPG to the RT-1 and RT-2 Jargas according to existing customers, it is hoped that it can improve the government's current account deficit through reducing government imports by 83.5 million kilograms of non-subsidized LPG per year," said Senior Expert Regional Sales SOR II PGN Yudi Arianto in Bandung, quoted from Antara, Monday, September 23.

Meanwhile, based on the value of the 3 kilogram LPG subsidy which is Rp. 10,667 per kilogram, through conversion to gas jar development, Yudi said, subsidy cost savings will be obtained of Rp. 39.5 billion per month or Rp. 474 billion per year. This was obtained based on data from 817,000 jargas household connections, which are active PGN customers.

Meanwhile, his party projects that every 1 million customers using gas lines have the potential to absorb 83,000 workers.

Furthermore, in addition to bringing benefits to the stability of the country's economy, jargas also provides benefits to the community, such as practical use, available 24 hours, comfortable, and minimal risk.

On the other hand, Yudi said, the construction of a household gas network was carried out based on the Nawa Cita President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), a national strategic program, a general plan for national energy development of 4.7 million connections in 2025, and the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for 2020-2024 as many as 4 million connections.

Previously, PT Pertamina Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) built a gas network of more than 6,000 household connections in Semarang and DI Yogyakarta involving PT Kian Santang Muliatama (KSM) as the implementer of development.

On the other hand, PGN is committed to completing the national target of building jargas for households or GasKita as many as 117,000 connections by 2024 and 200,000 connections by 2025.
