JAKARTA - The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta signed a cooperation agreement with PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO).

The signing agenda was accompanied by a national seminar with the theme Development and Utilization of Traditional Medicines to Support the Healthy Indonesia Movement' which was held on Wednesday, September 18, in a hybrid manner from the UNS FK Auditorium and broadcast live through the Zoom Meeting and Youtube platforms.

The chairman of the committee, Dr. Leli Saptawati, dr., Sp.MK(K) said that the agenda of this national seminar is a collaboration between FK UNS, PT Sido Muncul, the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) and the Surakarta Regional Mental Hospital (RSJD). This seminar is also a form of implementation of a memorandum of understanding between PT Sido Muncul and UNS previously.

This opportunity presents resource persons who are experts in each field. There are 240 offline participants, 344 online participants with a total of 584 participants. Hopefully, this seminar agenda will provide benefits for scientific development and encourage the health of the Indonesian nation," said dr. Leli.

Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K) expressed pride in the establishment of cooperation between FK UNS and PT Sido Muncul. He also conveyed the importance of downstreaming between education, especially in the pharmaceutical sector into the industry.

Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation, Internationalization, and Information UNS in his speech explained that UNS has signed an MoU with PT Sido Muncul since 2023. The implementation of this collaboration is in the form of organizing joint events, collaborative research, as well as internships for students to PT Sido Muncul. Prof. Irwan also hopes that this kind of cooperation agreement can expand to other selling universities.

Cooperation with this industry is one of the achievements of the Indicator of Main Performance (IKU) number 6. IKU 6 itself is very crucial and a priority. While the second session seminar was hosted by Dr. Leli Saptawati, dr., Sp.MK(K) and filled with speakers Dr. dr. Neni Susilaningsih, M.Si. Lesen Universitas Diponegoro (Undip); Dr. apt. Ipang Djunarko, S.Si, M.Sc Regional Management (PD) Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY); and Dr. Setyo Sri Rahardjo, dr., M.Kes. UNS FK Lecturer.

Director of Sido Muncul, Irwan Hidayat said, the collaboration between Sido Muncul and UNS Solo in this case the Faculty of Medicine can be developed more broadly in various fields ranging from agriculture, food technology and others.

He hopes that the development of science and technology in the field of herbal medicine or herbs can continue to be carried out by the government, academics, the business world, and the community, namely by scientific research-based herbal medicine, and health services.

Irwan hopes that students at the UNS Solo Faculty of Medicine can be given an understanding of the efficacy of medicinal plants or herbs. He certainly welcomes the collaboration between Sido Muncul and UNS Solo.
