Economists Value The Change Of SOEs To Cooperatives For People's Welfare

JAKARTA - Economist Ichsanudin Noorsy supports the change in BUMN replaced with cooperatives.

Although he still asked not only to dissolve SOEs and then establish cooperatives, but demanded certainty that the management carried out was for the greatest welfare of the people.

"The disbandment is ok. But the strategic steps are not only cooperatives," said Ichsanudin in a written statement, Wednesday, September 18.

The idea of disbanding BUMN replaced with cooperatives was raised by the expert team of the presidential-Cawapres Anies 'Muhaimin' pair in the 2024 presidential election yesterday, which had caused debate in the public sphere.

Meanwhile, Ichsanudin said that he had long proposed the establishment of a State-Owned Governance and Business Management Agency.

The goal is to differentiate between political entities and business entities.

"It means to get involved in political parties and bureaucrats. Then for indicators of success and failure, it is not only based on corporate measures that have God's profit and accumulated financial capital," he said.

On the other hand, he focuses on solving the root problems in managing the state-owned business.

Where SOEs are held by them with a corporate capitalization background. Likewise with the recruitment of high-ranking SOEs, which are taken from financial corporations.

Everything, he said, was in order to comply with the measure of financial performance as an element of key performance indicator (KPI).

"The impact of SOEs is getting further away from the mandate and constitutional economic orders when the ministers are also probing the neoliberal and enforcement of free market fundamentalism," he said.

"If today it is initiated to present a BUMN Management and Management Agency, but it does not start by solving the root of the problem, then the disbandment of SOEs and replacing the Body will have the same fate as the KPK. Namely far from being hot in solving problems," he said.
