Inaugurating Swiss Hotel Nusantara At IKN, Jokowi Had A Doubt That He Could Be Completed For 9 Months

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has just inaugurated the Swiss Hotel Nusantara in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan this afternoon. Jokowi also praised the performance of the Nusantara Consortium.

The Nusantara Consortium consists of a collection of investors led by the Founder Agung Sedayu Group, Sugianto Kusuma alias Aguan.

"I would like to give the highest appreciation and appreciation for the construction of the Swiss Hotel Nusantara which was carried out within nine months," Jokowi said in his remarks quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Friday, September 13.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta admitted that at first he had doubts that the five-star hotel could be completed within nine months as targeted by Aguan.

"Mr. Aguan told me, 'Sir, this will be done before August', sorry sir, I couldn't believe it at that time. I don't believe it," he said.

"But when I see now, it's true, Mr. Ali said earlier that if the others were unable to give it to me, that's true. Because it has been proven that nine months have been able to finish the 5-star hotel with 191 rooms," he continued.

Jokowi admits that building a five-star hotel with 191 rooms in nine months is not easy.

"It's not an easy job. But Indonesia can do it," he said.

Furthermore, Jokowi said that the next task of the government is to make IKN more crowded so that urban ecosystems can be built. One of them is by increasing airline traffic at Nusantara Airport, IKN.

"The government's job is to increase traffic later at the Nusantara Airport," he said.

On this occasion, Jokowi also inaugurated the groundbreaking or laying of the first stone for the construction of the Nusantra Duty Free Mall. Jokowi believes that the existence of this shopping center will make IKN even more crowded.

If this is finished and is finished soon, this will create a crowd at IKN. The hospital is finished, the school is finished, the mall is there, road infrastructure is also adequate, I think there will be crowds and we want to immediately encourage as many ASN as possible to move to IKN. As much as possible because it is the crowd that IKN needs," he said.
