Minister Of Industry Agus Plans To Add Electric Motor Subsidy Quota If He Gets Additional Budget

The allocation of the subsidized electric motorcycle budget in 2024 has run out.

Based on information system data on the Provision of Two-wheeled Electric Vehicle Purchase Assistance (SISAPIRa) as of Thursday, September 12, 2024, the budget allocation for subsidized electric motors is no longer available.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the additional quota would be carried out if his ministry received an additional budget.

Because, he said, this program is part of downstreaming.

"If there is an additional budget, we will add it because it (the electric motor subsidy program) is good," Agus said when met at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, September 12.

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) budget ceiling for 2025 is set at IDR 2.5 trillion, which is a decrease in the number.

As a result of the budget reduction, the Ministry of Industry must make adjustments to existing programs. Including, the distribution of electricity motor subsidies.

"I don't complain (the budget is decreasing), but the facts are like that. So, there must be adjustments to priority programs," said Agus.

"The minimum need for the Ministry of Industry can support industrial growth, right? IDR 3.3 trillion. The minimum basic need is budget. Right now, IDR 2.5 trillion. So, right, there must be adjustments from priority programs," he continued.

According to Agus, if later there is an additional budget, the allocation for the number of subsidized electric motor quotas will certainly be increased.

Meanwhile, based on SISAPIRa data, the number of subsidized electric motorcycles that have been received by the public currently amounts to 60,857 units. Meanwhile, 11,532 units were distributed in 2023.
