Pertamina Supports Government Energy Supporting Reserve Policy

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) is ready to support the government's energy support reserve policy as mandated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 96 of 2024.

"Of course Pertamina is also ready, both the provision of infrastructure and later the manager of energy buffer reserves," said Pertamina's SVP Business Development Wisnu Medan Santoso in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 10.

Wisnu said that Pertamina welcomed the Presidential Decree on Energy Supporting Reserves issued by the government, this is because the energy buffer needs are very crucial.

"Of course we welcome the Presidential Decree, because as stated by energy observer Komaidi Notonegoro, the need for energy buffers is very crucial. We have been waiting for the Presidential Decree for a long time. Thank God the government has issued the Presidential Decree," he said.

He also added that there had been no directive from the government to Pertamina regarding the energy buffer reserves.

Based on Presidential Decree Number 96 of 2024 concerning Supporting Reserves for Energy Provision, Supporting Energy Reserves (CPE) are obligations that must be provided by the Central Government. CPE is a state property in the form of supplies.

The provision of CPE aims to ensure national energy security, overcome energy and energy emergency crises, and carry out sustainable development.

Continuous development is a development that maintains the welfare of the community on an ongoing basis with a commitment to sustainable development goals, especially access to clean and affordable energy as well as climate management measures and their impacts.

Presidential Decree Number 96 of 2024 was issued with the consideration that in order to ensure national energy security in order to realize general welfare and energy sustainability throughout Indonesia, it is necessary to arrange energy buffer reserves that are able to provide energy according to local conditions and energy availability by taking into account the national commitment to sustainable development for clean and affordable and environmentally friendly energy.

The next consideration is to provide direction for the government in providing energy buffer reserves, it is necessary to regulate types, numbers, times, and locations of energy buffer reserves.

Then to maintain the availability of energy reserves, both in number and in quality according to national consumption needs, it is necessary to regulate the implementation of energy buffer reserves.
