Pertalite Restrictions Wait For Jokowi's Approval

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed that the plan to restrict subsidized fuel oil (BBM) type Pertalite is still waiting for President Joko Widodo's approval.

According to Luhut, this decision will be taken through a meeting with the head of state which will be held in the near future.

"This is starting (socialization) again. Later we will have another meeting with the president, then the president will decide," said Luhut to the media crew after the 2024 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) agenda at JCC Senayan, Thursday, September 5.

Luhut said that this subsidized fuel restriction was intended so that only people with blessings could consume Pertalite, so that the rich and capable could not use subsidized fuel.

He hopes that this policy can be implemented immediately so that the distribution of subsidized fuel can be enjoyed by the people who are entitled.

"We hope it (October 2024)," said Luhut briefly.

Previously, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia said that the restriction on the purchase of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) would only be carried out after the stipulation of a Ministerial Regulation (Permen).

"Because that's the rule going outside, the regulation is outside," said Bahlil at the Parliament Complex, Tuesday, August 27.

Bahlil also said that there is a possibility that the implementation of the subsidized fuel purchase restriction will be carried out on October 1, 2024.

"There is time for socialization, now this is the time for socialization that I am currently discussing," he said.
