The Family Explains Faisal Basri's Condition Before He Died, Had Attended An Invitation From Farmers

JAKARTA - The younger brother of the late senior economist Faisal Basri, Ramdan Malik, revealed Faisal Basri's activities before he died.

His brother attended an invitation from farmers in Dairi, North Sumatra, on Wednesday last week.

"So, the brother was invited by Dairi farmers from Sumatra, that was his activity last Wednesday. Then my own brother told me when I visited on Monday by car without air, opened the window during Dairi's 6 hours of travel," he explained at the funeral home, Thursday, September 5.

Ramdan said that he had asked his brother if he ate the duren there because there was a duren festival.

"Then I asked, "Eat the dure?", because he's a fan of the duren, 'There's a festival and, you eat a lot'," he explained.

Ramdan explained that after returning from the event Faisal's health condition had decreased drastically, and at first Faisal Basri was reluctant to go to the hospital for treatment.

Then on Monday his condition was getting lower until finally his daughter was invited to go to the hospital.

"Then I went home on Saturday and I was weak but I didn't want to go to the doctor, my brother was a little lazy when I went to the doctor if it didn't hurt very much. Then on Monday his face was a little late for cold sweat, then Nabila's only daughter, middle child, said 'Come on, dad to the doctor' and just wanted to go to the doctor. We'll take him to Mayapada Kuningan Hospital. Then there is a heart doctor who can detect a possible heart," he said.

Ramdan explained that Faisal Basri's blood and kidney sugar conditions were not yet stable, so he entered the ICU room first and actually had improved on Wednesday night.

However, his health fell again and entered a critical period until he finally died.

"Last night, it should have started to improve, it's starting to stabilize. Today the plan to have a catheter at 7.30 am. I was ready to go there but it turned out that this morning it was gone, the family had waited two hours for the emergency period. There was a catheter and a ring one was installed but it couldn't be saved anymore. So the condition is medically," he said.

Ramdan said his brother's body would be buried at the Menteng Pulo TPU, Tebet, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 5.

"The plan is for the bada asar in Menteng Pulo, at the grave of the father who died in 81 (1981)," he said.

Ramdan said the family would still wait for Faisal Basri's eldest son who was on his way to Jakarta from Bangkok, Thailand.

"Bada Asar, because each one is waiting for their eldest from the boarding house, yes. Maybe around 12 o'clock they just arrived, their eldest child," he explained.
