The Mandek Cooperative Bill, Minister Teten To The DPR: President Jokowi Asks To Be Prioritized

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) requested that the revision of the Law (RUU) regarding the third amendment to Law Number 25 of 1992 concerning Cooperatives be prioritized so that it can be completed in the current period.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki in a working meeting with the Minister of Trade with Commission VI of the DPR, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 4.

Teten conveyed that the instructions were conveyed by President Jokowi through the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Supratman Andi Agtas.

"Yesterday I discussed with the new Minister of Law and Human Rights, who was just summoned by the President, he asked for this priority to be completed by the Cooperative Bill," said Teten.

The statement received a response from the Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the DPR as well as the chair of the meeting, Mohamad Hekal. He asked whether the priority in question was that the completion was accelerated during the current legislative period.

"Soon, sir's permission. It means that it will be resolved during this period. The current DPR?" asked Hekal.

Responding to this question, Teten agreed. However, it is possible that before the end of the term of office of the Advanced Indonesia cabinet, Teten will still open up another discussion with Minister of Law and Human Rights Supratman Andi Agtas.

"Well, I have discussed whether it is possible or not we will just have a meeting with the Minister of Law and Human Rights," he said.

Hekal again responded by surprise. The reason is, the current legislative period is only about three weeks left.

"Okay, hopefully. It's amazing that it's only been three weeks," said Hekal, greeted by laughter from Teten.
