GIS Supports Road Construction In Six Villages In Rembang And Blora, Central Java

JAKARTA - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) through its subsidiary, PT Semen Gresik, continues to strive to improve the economy and welfare of the community around factory operations. In Tegaldowo Village, Gunem District, Rembang Regency, Central Java, for example, to improve the smooth activities of rural communities, PT Semen Gresik provided assistance in developing village road infrastructure. Until July 2024, road construction in Tegaldowo Village has reached 1.51 km.

The road construction assistance in Tegaldowo Village is part of the implementation of the CSR program of PT Semen Gresik. Since 2021, PT Semen Gresik has provided assistance of IDR 5.37 billion for the construction of 4.1 km of roads in six villages in Rembang and Blora Regencies, including Tegaldowo Village, Kajar Village, Timbrangan Village, Pasucen Village, and Kadiwono Village in Rembang Regency, as well as Ngampel Village in Blora Regency. In addition to village roads, PT Semen Gresik also provides assistance in the development of other village infrastructure such as bridges, drainage, village halls, and river retaining walls.

The head of Tegaldowo Village, Kundari expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Company for this road construction assistance that really helps the community in carrying out their daily activities, thus having a positive impact on improving the village economy. Prior to this road construction assistance, the condition of the land structure that tends to move has made it difficult for farmers and MSME activists to market their commodities.

"The concrete road assistance from PT Semen Gresik is certainly very helpful for the smooth economy of the village community. For the construction, we do it using local village workers, in order to empower each other and improve the residents' economy. With the current concrete road, community mobility becomes easier, so that it has a positive impact on the economic growth of the citizens," said Kundari.

Salamun also expressed his appreciation, the Head of Pasucen Village, Gunem District, Rembang Regency. Salamun said that the Pasucen Village main road has minimal water disposal flow, so that if the rainfall is high, it will have the potential to cause flooding. He admitted that the construction of drainage has not been carried out due to the limited village budget.

"For infrastructure development assistance from PT Semen Gresik, we focus on drainage first. Apart from the fact that roads are becoming more damaged because water continues to stagnate due to rain, puddles also enter several residents' houses, so this is quite disturbing people's activities. After the drainage work is complete, God willing, next year we will carry out concrete road construction so that community economic activity will increase.
