JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) stated that Indonesia was temporarily free from accusations of dumping and countervaliding duties (CVD) against shrimp export commodities sent by the United States (US).

The Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) KKP Budi Sulistyo revealed that the results of a temporary decision regarding CVD dated March 25, 2024, stated that Indonesia was not proven to have subsidized.

"The US Authority or the United States Department of Commerce (USDOC) issued the results of a temporary decision that the Indonesian government is not proven to have subsidized," Budi said at a press conference at the KKP Building, Jakarta, Monday, September 2.

Regarding anti dumping dated May 23, 2024, Budi said, the USDOC issued a preliminary decision stating that the dumping margin by PT Bahari Makmur Sejati was 0 percent and PT First Marine Seafood was 6.3 percent.

"Based on regulations in America, PT first marine Seafood and all other Indonesian air exporters are subject to a duty rate of 6.3 percent," he said.

Previously, the US through the American Shrimp Processors Association (ASPA) submitted an application in October 2023 to request an anti- dumping import duty on imported frozen water shrimp from Indonesia and also Ecuador.

The scope of shrimp from Indonesia imposed by the petition includes all frozen tropical shrimp, excluding fresh shrimp and ready-to-eat shrimp (Breaded shrimp). ASPA also asked to countervailing import duties from Ecuador, India, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Based on Sunset Reviews 2022 data, it shows that four countries, namely China with a maximum duty of 112.81 percent, India 110.9 percent, Thailand 5.34 percent and Vietnam 25.76 percent, are still subject to Anti-Dumping Imports.
