JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has approved the development of the BSD City area into a new national strategic project (PSN). The Sinar Mas Land Group property issuer belonging to the late conglomerate Eka Tjipta Widjaja, PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk. (BSDE) revealed that the determination will encourage the company's business strategy in the future.

Director of BSDE, Hermawan Wijaya, expressed his gratitude for setting BSD to become a PSN and special economic zone, therefore his party will continue to develop further business in BSD City.

"So of course all of this will encourage BSD City's own development strategy as a whole and of course it will contribute greatly to our marketing sales in the future," he said in a Public Expose Live, Wednesday, August 28.

According to Hermawan PSN and this special economic zone is very important for the development of BSD areas, so there will be more outside investors who want to invest in Indonesia.

"At least in this special economic zone, of course, some of the facilities that we are currently waiting for from the government, which are usually easier and possible in terms of taxation," he explained.

Along with the determination of PSN and its special economic zone, the development of BSD City is increasingly advanced, namely the example of having been operating Monash University Indonesia, which is the first foreign university to be allowed to operate in Indonesia located in BSD City.

"In the future, this special economic zone will also target investors who want to invest in Indonesia in the field of research, medical, then also the creative economy," he said.

Hermawan said that in the end with the entry of investors, it would invite new workers, young people who work in special economic areas, and they need accommodation facilities for houses, apartments or other business areas.

Previously, the Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Haryo Limanseto, explained that the Integrated Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) area was a national strategic project (PSN) because it would be used as an educational, biomedical and digital center.

"PSN BSD is intended for the advancement of the Digital Biomedical Education sector which is supported by the Ministry of Health," he said.

Haryo said that PSN BSD's total investment was Rp. 18.54 trillion, and it is projected to absorb 10,065 workers, so that it would save foreign exchange of Rp. 10.1 trillion, and obtain foreign exchange of Rp. 5.6 trillion.
