JAKARTA - West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati opened a flight route Kertajati (Majalengka) to Singapore starting September 28, 2024.

Director of PT BIJB Muhammad Singgih in Bandung, West Java, said the airline that will fill the Kertajati-Singapore route is Scoot.

"The entry of Scoot flights is expected to be a moment of revival at Kertajati Airport, considering that this airport has very capable facilities," said Singgih in Bandung, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, August 27.

Singgih said that ahead of his inaugural flight, there is a ticket promo worth IDR 450,000 which can be ordered by the public starting August 6, 2024.

In addition to promo tickets, there are also free shuttle travel tickets between the modes to and from BIJB Kertajati. There are 3,014 free shuttle tickets, 1,360 of which are valid until the end of December 2024.

The way to claim is to simply show the "boarding pass" or ticket and the shuttle officer will serve.

Majalengka-Singapore is the second commercial international route after previously opening the Majalengka-Kuala Lumpur route.

Singgih hopes that the addition of international flights will be the starting point for other direct flights to various parts of the world.

"We hope that with a flight from Scoot, it can be an opening for Umrah flights and direct flights to the Middle East," said Singgih.

Head of the West Java Provincial Tourism and Culture Office Benny Bachtiar said BIJB has more than enough capital, where apart from adequate facilities, BIJB also has a good track record because this year's Hajj season is the official embarkation and debarification of Hajj with the flight code 'KJT'.

The new Majalengka-Singapore route will also stimulate the tourism world of the northern coast region such as Cirebon, Majalengka, Kuningan and Indramayu.

The hope is that it can increase hotel occupancy, the emergence of new tourist destinations and new accommodation venues, as well as travel growth and travel agencies.

Majalengka-Singapore's new route will also improve connectivity in the two provinces.

"This direct flight to Singapore not only opens access to the journey of West Java residents, but Central Java residents around the northern coast such as Brebes Regency and its surroundings," said Benny Bachtiar.

Moreover, with the presence of the Trans Java Toll Road, the trip from Central Java to Majalengka has become shorter.

Likewise, residents from Greater Bandung, with the presence of the Cisumdawu Toll Road, BIJB can be an alternative.

"The community is now easier if they want to travel to Singapore, for travel, treatment, business trips, or schools in Singapore," said Benny.
