JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) signed a Memorandum of Coordination (MoC) with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Japan in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 21.

"The purpose of this Cooperation Memorandum (MKS) is to form an institutional framework to facilitate and increase bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit," said Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana after the signing, Wednesday, August 21.
The areas to be collaborated are, the formulation of the roadmap for the energy transition to net zero emissions with their respective national transition lines; Development and deployment of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and other clean energy technologies, including but not limited to hydrogen, ammonia, carbon recycling, and CCS/CCUS.
Furthermore, there is the development of other energy, including oil, gas, and electricity as it should be to increase energy security; Policy development, human resources, and knowledge sharing about energy and technology transitions that contribute; Support efforts in multilateral forums to accelerate technology cooperation that contributes to realistic energy transitions; and other areas of cooperation as shared by both parties.
"With this MKS, it is hoped that it will encourage cooperation between business entities between the two countries, for example, promotion of energy investment, business activities, joint projects (including feasibility studies, demonstration projects, expert exchanges, technology, samples, and equipment), which contribute to accelerating energy transition efforts," added Dadan.
