JAKARTA PT Pertamina Patra Niaga took a real action by cleaning the Ciliwung River from garbage and holding the 79-meter-long Red and White Flag.

This activity is part of commemorating the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

The event was also part of the 2024 Ciliwung Festival, which was held together with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), as a form of the company's commitment to environmental conservation.

The river cleaning action, which was followed by hundreds of participants, managed to lift 1.65 tons of garbage from the Ciliwung River.

In addition, the raising of the 79-meter-long flag is a symbol of pride and the spirit of independence which is manifested in the form of concern for the environment.

Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Heppy Wulansari stated that this activity is in line with the principles of Environment, Social, & Governance (ESG) implemented by the company, and supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"We want to make the momentum of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day an opportunity to contribute directly to the environment by cleaning rivers and increasing public awareness of the importance of maintaining river cleanliness for future generations," said Heppy.

Director of Water Pollution Control, Directorate of PPKL KLHK, Tulus Laksono, appreciated Pertamina Patra Niaga's initiative in this activity.

"This action is part of the 2024 Ciliwung Festival program. We hope this collaboration will continue and bring significant benefits to the environment and the surrounding community," said Tulus.

The 2024 Ciliwung Festival involves various elements of society, including volunteers, students, and the environmental care community, all of whom actively participate in preserving the Ciliwung River and mitigating the impact of flooding.

This activity also includes water rescue training and waste management education, which was held previously on August 10 and 16, 2024.
