The Ministry Of PUPR Calls 8.2 Million House Units Established For 10 Years Of Jokowi's Government

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) reported that during the 10 years the Joko Widodo (Jokowi) administration had succeeded in building 8.2 million housing units through the One Million Houses Program (PSR).

Secretary General of the Ministry of PUPR Mohammad Zainal Fatah revealed that for 10 years the government has been able to build a new foundation and civilization with the development that is Indonesia-centric, building from the outskirts, villages and outermost regions.

"In the housing sector, it is carried out through the One Million Houses Program (PSR) which involves all stakeholders with an achievement of 8.2 million units," said Zainal Fatah in a written statement, quoted Monday, August 19.

He explained that other infrastructure development was also completed during President Jokowi's leadership, such as in the field of water resources through the construction of 61 dams, of which 43 dams have been completed.

"The construction of the dam was also attended by the construction of a new irrigation network covering an area of 1.1 million hectares and the rehabilitation of 4.3 million hectares. So that it increased the area of rice fields whose irrigation water came from dams (increased from 11 percent in 2014 to 19 percent in 2024) and increased the Plantation Index (IP) from 1.5 in 2014 to 2.5 in 2024," he explained.

Zainal Fatah added that connectivity infrastructure was also built to reduce logistics costs through the construction of 2,700 kilometers (km) of toll roads and the construction of national roads which also continued for up to 6,000 km.

In addition, regional road handling is also carried out based on the Regional Road Instruction (IJD).

The IJD achievement in 2023 is 3,195 km of regional roads built and supported by Jimbaran along 3 km.

"We have built a drinking water infrastructure in supporting access to drinking water properly for the community by 92 percent until 2023 through the construction of a Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM). For decent sanitation access, currently it reaches 82 percent through the construction of an Integrated Domestic Wastewater Processing System (SPALD-T)," he concluded.
