Puan Maharani: National Economic Pillars Must Be Stronger, Not Only From Mineral Hilirasation

Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, Puan Maharani, said that the pillars of the national economy must be stronger. He said that the pillars of the national economy are also not only limited to mineral downstreaming.

"In the future, we must also have stronger national economic pillars. Downstreaming is not only limited to minerals," he said at the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR-DPR RI, at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Friday, August 16.

According to Puan, downstreaming can be developed in other sectors. Such as the agricultural, plantation, and weathering sectors.

"Hilirization can be done in agriculture, fisheries, plantations, and so on so that the national economy is more qualified and inclusive," he said.

Puan said Indonesia must be able to solve structural problems in building food sovereignty, overcoming social inequality, and creating jobs. That way, he said, people's living degrees are more prosperous and facilitated.

"Equitable development in the regions must be carried out more quickly. Budget politics is increasingly directed to strengthen regional capabilities in building. There will be no progress in Indonesia, without quality and inclusive regional progress," he said.

Not only strengthening the pillars of the national economy, according to Puan, Indonesia must also develop National Characters, Nation and Character Building.

"With the Nation and Character Building, it will strengthen the way of thinking, working, and way of living of the nation, which provides self-respect to the nation itself, provides self-confidence to the nation itself, and provides the ability to be independent," he said.
