PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk or BSI recorded a growth in the number of payroll customers by 8.72 percent year to date (ytd) to 1.1 million people by June 2024 period.

BSI Sales & Distribution Director Anton Sukarna said, this year BSI seeks to expand its customer base (customer based) through payroll. This service is one of the main entrances for the public to take advantage of Islamic banking services.

"At BSI, payroll in the form of wadiah savings are not subject to administrative costs so that people can fully take advantage of this service, including obtaining debit cards and access to BSI Mobile without monthly fees. Thus, we hope that BSI can become a one-stop solution through sharia banking facilities for our customers," Anton said in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, August 13.

According to the company, synergy is one of BSI's main strategies to boost payroll performance. Anton said that this strategic step also strengthens Islamic financial inclusion which is continuously driven by BSI. This reflects the good inclusion of Islamic finance and continues to show a positive trend.

One of the collaborations or synergies carried out by BSI is by cooperating with PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) or BKI as the holding company for BUMN Jasa Survei in terms of implementing the use of Islamic banking services.

This synergy was stated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday which was attended by Anton and the Director of Finance, Administration and Risk Management of PT Bureau of Indonesian Classification Sinung Triwulandari.

Anton said this MoU is the initial gate to increase sharia inclusion within BKI, especially in terms of payroll, cash management, and financing facilities. Through this collaboration, all BKI employees who choose sharia transactions at BSI can get access to payroll facilities.

On the same occasion, the Director of BKI Sinung Triwulandari said that this synergy had a positive impact on both parties so that it could be followed up continuously.

"We really hope that this synergy can further strengthen and accelerate the growth of the sharia economy in Indonesia, as well as encourage the creation of a more inclusive and sustainable financial ecosystem for all levels of society," said Sinung.
