Construction Of Kusuma Bangsa Park In IKN Completed, Cost Telan Rp335.2 Billion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the construction of the Kusuma Bangsa Park or what was previously called Memorial Park in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

Director General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR Diana Kusumastuti said the construction was carried out since January 2024 and completed this August, with a cost of Rp335.2 billion.

"Taman Kusuma Bangsa area has an area of 1,915 square meters consisting of the plaza area, the Archipelago Protecter Wing, the Soekarno-Hatta statue, the Eternal Fire and the landscape," Diana said in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, August 13.

Diana said, Taman Kusuma Bangsa is integrated with the Beranda Nusantara area which will be the point of view at IKN. Thus, it is hoped that it will be able to attract the attention of the public and state guests who visit IKN.

"This park will also be used for the implementation of holy reflections in commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

According to Diana, because there is no hero's grave in the IKN area, her party has made Taman Kusuma Bangsa a place to do holy reflections.

"Here there is also a 79 meter high flagpole that has received the highest MURI record in Indonesia, maybe even in the world," he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono inaugurated the Kusuma Bangsa Park at IKN, Monday, August 12.

According to Jokowi, the Kusuma Bangsa Park was built in order to pay tribute to the heroes and fighters of the country. Mainly for the founders of the nation, Mr. Soekarno and Bung Hatta.

For your information, Taman Kusuma Bangsa was built with a monumental concept that describes the long struggle for the independence of the Indonesian nation which was embodied in the statue of the hero of the proclaimer Mr. Ir. Soekarno and Mr. Mohammad Hatta with the wings of the Garuda bird as high as 17 meters.
