JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has asked banks to conduct an Enhance Due Diligence (EDD) or more in-depth identification, verification and monitoring of customers indicated regarding online gambling transactions to support the eradication of online gambling in Indonesia.
"As a form of coaching and efforts to minimize the use of bank accounts for online gambling transactional activities, OJK has also asked banks to conduct an Enhanced Due Diligence on customers who are indicated to carry out online gambling transactions," said OJK Banking Supervision Chief Executive Dian Ediana Rae in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday 12 August.
Dian said that until now, OJK has asked banks to block more than 6,000 accounts related to online gambling fund holdings spread across several banks.
OJK also asked the bank to analyze the transactions of these customers, then report them as Suspicious Financial Transaction Reports (LTKM) to the Financial Transaction Report Center (PPATK) if there are indications of suspicious financial transactions related to online gambling, and limit and even eliminate access from these customers in terms of opening accounts in all banks in Indonesia (blacklisting).
