Jokowi's Message To Investors: IKN Is Investment In The Future

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) advised investors that the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan is an investment in the future, not for the present.

"Investment in IKN is a future investment not now," he said before the cabinet meeting at IKN, East Kalimantan, Monday, August 12.

The government, continued Jokowi, has started the construction of the core government area in IKN, East Kalimantan. Consisting of the presidential palace, vice president to the ministry office.

"The government has started in the core area for the government here. This shows the strong desire for us to resolve its physical relations with the presidential palace, the vice president and then the coordinating minister, and then the ministry," he said.

This initial development, continued Jokowi, is expected to attract as much investment as possible to IKN.

"We hope it will encourage as many investors as possible to enter into investment in IKN," he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense and President-elect Prabowo Subianto promised to complete the IKN development project, in East Kalimantan.

"I have said many times that I am determined to continue if I can finish it. Pak Jokowi, I think he has taken on the historical role of the initiative, at least I will continue if I can finish it," he said.

Even so, Prabowo said the construction of the new capital city as a whole would take a long time. However, his party is trying to complete the construction as soon as possible.

"So yes, this development is indeed running and must continue if we can speed it up, if possible. But of course later all experts must be mobilized all of our capabilities. If I'm optimistic I'll see. I think it's very good," he said.

Prabowo targets IKN to start using well in the next 5 years. In fact, IKN will look good in the next 6 years.

"But if I'm optimistic, in 4 to 5 years, I think it will work very well in my opinion. I'm not an engineering expert, but I see the potential. I'm sure 5 to 6 years will be good to finish," he said.
