The ART Autonomous Train At IKN Has Been Tested By The Minister Of Transportation Budi Kaya Sumadi

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi conducted an autonomous train test or Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) to ensure the readiness of the transportation ahead of the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN). The Minister of Transportation after testing the autonomous train at Penajam Paser Utara, Sunday, said that the trial was carried out to prepare for the operation of the autonomous tram on the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, which will take place on August 17, 2024 at IKN.

"I am with a team from CRRC Cina, conducting a trial of ART today and operated using a markings. We are currently testing it so that on August 17, 2024 it has been operated and can serve well," said the Minister of Transportation in a statement received by Antara in Jakarta.

The Minister of Transportation said that currently, there is already an autonomous tram series at IKN. In the early stages, the autonomous tram will function as a feeder for participants in the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony.

Autonomous trains have a cruising speed of 40 km/hour on Jalan Rabu Kebangsaan Barat and Jalan Sumbu Kebangsaan Timur.

"Yesterday there was already a dirty rehearsal. I saw the ART, in my opinion there were no special things to add, so we just have to try it out, make sure the electricity, then operate it," added the Minister of Transportation.

The Minister of Transportation said that the operation of autonomous trams uses batteries substitutional by road and magnetic markings. This is expected to be able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption, so that it is in line with the concepts and principles of IKN as a smart, green, and sustainable city area. He revealed that ART will be in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of IKN. Autonomous trains will become feeders around the roads of West Sumbu and East Sumbu. In addition, added the Minister of Transportation, together with various parties who work together, the Ministry of Transportation has also prepared electric public vehicles to support accessibility in IKN later. Mainly during the momentum of the commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in 2024.

"We will gradually ensure that all transportation operating in IKN is environmentally friendly," said the Minister of Transportation.
