Luhut Says Farewell To Jokowi: You Will Be A Beautiful Memories

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan conveyed his farewells to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who will end his term of office in October.

This remarks was conveyed by Luhut in his remarks at the inauguration of the lithium battery anode factory PT Indonesianesoa BTR New Energy Material in the Kendal Special Economic Zone (KEK), Central Java, Wednesday, August 7.

On that occasion, Luhut mentioned President Jokowi's leadership, which within three months will end his term of office.

Luhut said Jokowi inherited Indonesia's foundation as an industrialized country.

"You have left a legacy that I don't think is easy to form by other people. And I believe the president around the clock will remember that you have laid the foundation of this country to become an industrialization country, not only exporting raw materials," said Luhut, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Wednesday, August 7.

"I may if I may be a little lecherous, goodbye sir. You will be a beautiful memory for Indonesia. Even though it is still 2-3 months, Mr. President, but I think this kind of important event in my opinion, for me personally, is very touching," he continued.

Luhut said that Jokowi's decision to stop exporting raw nickel had brought Indonesia into a respected country. Even though initially, he said, Indonesia lost USD 1.5 billion from the decision.

"But now we see the fruit, sir, we are respected, we are respected and our technology is getting better and our exports will increase. So I am sure that in the not long term, our exports in the downstream derivative will increase significantly," he explained.

Not only that, Luhut also said that Jokowi's decision to stop exporting raw nickel made other countries no longer take Indonesia lightly as a country that is easy to regulate.

"More than that, no one takes Indonesia lightly anymore, that Indonesia can be regulated by anyone. Indonesia is a big country, a country that has characters, a country that can say yes and a country that can say no," he said.
