JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI urges residents not to throw garbage along the railroad tracks, or on the container train.
If they violate, the public can be fined Rp. 15 million or imprisonment for 3 months.
KAI VP Public Relations Anne Purba emphasized that the imposition of the fine refers to Law (UU) Number 23 of 2007 concerning Railways Article 199. The regulation explains that people who interfere with train activities can be sentenced to imprisonment or fined.
"The crime is imposed on anyone in the goods room of the train road, dragging the goods above or crossing the railroad line without rights, and using the railway line for other purposes other than for rail transportation that can interfere with train travel. Building something around the rail line is also very dangerous, so it is also prohibited by the government," Anne said in an official statement, Tuesday, August 6.
Anne also explained thatyer had provisions governing the construction of the rail so that train activities with residents would not be disrupted. This is in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) Number 56 of 2009 concerning Railways Implementation.
Furthermore, Anne said that what is meant by the Path Benefit Room (Rumaja) consisting of rail roads and land parcels at least 6 meters from the rail center on the left and right of the rail road along with spaces on the left, right, upper, and bottom used for the construction of rail roads and the placement of railway operations facilities as well as other complementary buildings.
Anne also said that in the space of benefits, there is a free space that must be free from all obstacles and barrier objects on the left, right, upper, and bottom of the rail road.
"KAI strictly prohibits people from being on the railway line for any activity other than for the operational interests of the train, let alone throwing garbage on the train. We also ask the public to care and actively participate in creating mutual safety and smooth train travel," he said.
KAI has also followed up on the habit of residents throwing garbage along the Kemayoran train line.
Anna said KAI had carried out cleaning across Kemayoran to Ancol, as well as socializing with local residents in collaboration with the Handling of Public Infrastructure and Facilities (PPSU) of Ancol Village, Pademangan District, on Monday, August 5.
