WIKA Realty Encourages Sustainable Economy, Strengthens Local Farmers Groups

JAKARTA - The Semarang Typical Hotel, one of the hotels under the auspices of PT Wijaya Karya Realty (WIKA Realty), has collaborated with two farmer groups in Central Java, namely Poktan Budi Rahayu and KUB Lentera. This collaboration is facilitated by the Department of Agriculture and Plantation (Distanbun) of Central Java Province and aims to support local farmers and increase food security in the regions.

Since 2023, Hotel Khas Semarang has used the produce from local farmers, namely KUB Lentera to meet the needs of vegetables and Poktan Budi Rahayu which has supplied more than 290 kg of coffee and sugar palm. This initiative is not only aimed at increasing the motivation of farmers in producing agricultural products, but also to give them confidence to enter the industrial market.

Through this collaboration, Hotel Khas Semarang is committed to absorbing coffee and sugar palm commodities produced by local farmers. This is a form of support from Hotel Khas Semarang in promoting local wisdom and superior products from Central Java, as well as creating new opportunities for sustainable cooperation in the future for other commodities.

"This collaboration reflects that the presence of the Semarang Typical Hotel serves as a multiplier effect in the community, provides opportunities for farmers, and supports the Food Security Improvement Program. We believe that support for local farmers is very important to encourage sustainable economic growth," said WIKA Realty Corporate Secretary, Saskia Ayu Megananda in a written statement, Friday, August 2.

Thus, the initiative carried out by WIKA Realty through the Semarang Typical Hotel is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG number 2, namely zero hunter which focuses on improving food security and supporting sustainable agriculture, as well as SDG number eight, namely decent work and economic growth which aims to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth and create decent job opportunities. This initiative is believed to have a positive impact on the community and improve the quality of life of the local community.
