Jokowi Calls Digital Transformation Relying On AI As A Business Opportunity In The Future

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that digital transformation, especially in the fields of economics and finance, is very necessary and crucial. Because in the future, the way of doing business with digital will be carried out, especially those that rely on artificial intelligence (AI).

"Therefore, digital transformation, especially in the economic sector, the financial sector is very important, especially with the rapid current technology," he explained at the Opening Ceremony Economic and Digital Finance (FEKDI) X Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) 2024.

Jokowi conveyed that digital transformation is very necessary because it can become a potential business in the future, such as the sale of fashion products being transformed into digital forms and marketed digitally through AI catwalks, digital storefronts.

"This will be a potential business in the future, clothing, products are transformed into digital forms, marketed digitally, through the Catwalk AI, through digital storefronts. You can buy digital directly, using digital payments," he said.

Jokowi gave an example such as administration, services, entertainment and projects carried out by Elon Musk recently, namely making a catwalk with models using the faces of world leaders, starting from Elon Musk, President Donald Trump, President Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the American Council Nancy Pelosi, Tim Cook, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Hillary Clinton, Mark Zuckerberg, and President Barack Obama.

"Imagine if our MSME products can be like this. Because the number of our MSMEs is very large, 64 million. Of course, this digital MSME will boost the growth of our digital economy and digital payments," said Jokowi.

In addition, Jokowi conveyed the need for an inclusive and just digital transformation so that the whole community gets the same opportunity and protection.

"People on the outskirts, lower levels of the economy, micro economy, MSMEs, all must get the same access and opportunity, must get the same protection," he said.

Therefore, Jokowi emphasized that in the midst of the slowdown and uncertainty in the world economy, Indonesia must be able to take advantage of all instruments and opportunities to continue to grow.

Jokowi explained that Indonesia has great potential and opportunities in the future, namely the digital economy is projected to grow four times in 2030, reaching IDR 5,800 trillion. Furthermore, digital payments are also expected to grow 2.5 times in 2030, reaching IDR 12,300 trillion.
