Banggar Encourages TPID Collaboration To Maintain Inflation In The Regions

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Budget Agency (Banggar) of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Muhidin M Said, encourages the collaboration of the regional inflation control team (TPID), to maintain inflation in the regions.

"We encourage collaboration between TPID, including local governments, Bank Indonesia and cross-sectors to be able to continue to maintain inflation in the regions," he said in Palu, quoted from Antara, Friday, July 26.

The member of Commission XI of the DPR explained that TPID plays a role in making regional inflation control strategies, which can be carried out based on the 4K framework or supply availability, price affordability, smooth distribution, and effective communication. According to him, efforts to control inflation not only lead to price stability, but also to support regional economic improvements.

He explained, related to supply availability, TPID can ensure the availability of Bulog rice stocks through sudden inspections. In addition, communicating with farmer groups in Central Sulawesi, in order to ensure community food reserves. He continued, TPID can encourage food downstream, to ensure the availability of rice supplies in Central Sulawesi. As well as encouraging cooperation between regions.

Regarding price affordability, Muhidin encouraged TPID to collaborate in providing food commodities at prices below the market for the community. In addition, it can carry out low-cost market activities to keep food commodity prices affordable in consumers.

Then, for smooth distribution, he advised TPID to synergize with the provincial, district and city food task force, in coordinating and monitoring. This is to ensure smooth distribution and prevent the risk of hoarding strategic food commodities.

Furthermore, for the effective communication strategy, he hopes that there will be an increase in understanding and updating of information regarding inflation control strategies in the regions. He hopes that TPID will periodically coordinate regional inflation control, including holding high levels of meetings.
