JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KITB) or Grand Batang City in Central Java today, Friday, July 26.

"By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I inaugurate the operation of the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate in Batang Regency, Central Java Province," said President Jokowi, Friday.

In his remarks, Jokowi said that the construction of the KITB began with geopolitical conditions between China and America, which had heated up in 2019, followed by the COVID-10 pandemic that hit the world in 2020.

Di tengah tantangan tersebut Jokowi mengaku melihat ada kesempatan besar yang bisa diraih Indonesia.

Jokowi said, at that time many industries then flocked to build new industries in countries with good economic growth, low inflation, having good economic stability and governance.

"This is our strength. And I am happy that at that time I decided to build an Integrated Industrial Zone in Batang with an area of the first 400 ha. Then in demand, run out, open again 400 ha," said Jokowi.

Now, he said, a total of 4300 ha has been planned which will accommodate industry and factories.

He ensured that this industrial area could absorb approximately 250,000 workers.

"The goal is to go there because we have to open up as many jobs as possible for our people with the investment that is now coming in already Rp. 14 trillion and concerning 19,000 workers. This is only the beginning," concluded Jokowi.
