Jokowi Officially Launches Golden Visa, Invites World Citizens To Invest And Work In Indonesia

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially launched Golden Visa. Golden Visa is a special visa that will be given to foreign investors with large investments to stay longer in Indonesia.

Jokowi said the government wanted to provide convenience for foreign nationals (foreigners) to invest and work in Indonesia. Of course, foreign nationals targeted are quality citizens, ranging from celebrities, investors and others.

"We will launch Golden Visa to make it easier for foreigners to invest and work in Indonesia and attract more good quality travelers," said Jokowi when launching Golden Visa at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday, July 25.

"I invite the citizens of the world to come to invest and work in Indonesia," he continued.

On that occasion, Jokowi also gave Golden Visa to the Indonesian national team football coach Shin Tae Yong as a symbolic launch.

Golden Visa is one of the efforts to improve the country's economic development by allowing foreign investors who invest in Indonesia to stay for 5-10 years.

On the same occasion, Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna H. Laoly said, Golden Visa is a new service at the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. This provides convenience for foreigners in Indonesia.

"The Golden Visa policy, Indonesia's strategic position in the eyes of the international community. Indonesia opens the widest opportunity for world leaders, international investors, world talents and Indonesian diaspora to contribute and develop Indonesia," he said.

During the launch of the Golden Visa, there were a number of Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. For example, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto and Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan-RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas.
