The Transition Of Jokowi's Government To Prabowo Is Unique And Has Never Happened Before

JAKARTA - CORE Indonesia Executive Director Mohammad Faisal assessed that the transition from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to Prabowo Subianto was unique. In fact, he said that this process had never occurred before.

"We know that the political process is already underway, at this time even if we look at the process that is said to be a transition process, it is even more unique in the transition to government this time, compared to the previous period," he said in a discussion on Economic Risk Mitigation ahead of the New Government, in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 23.

Fasial assesses that the transition process of government this time is unique because new figures have started to enter President Jokowi's work cabinet. Therefore, he said this had never happened before.

"Several figures for the government that are actually in the future, have started to enter the current cabinet. So the ongoing government has not changed. Now this is something that has never happened before," he said.

For example, continued Faisal, Thomas Djiwandono, who had just been inaugurated as Deputy Minister of Finance II accompanied Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani on Thursday, July 18 at the State Palace in Jakarta.

Faisal suspects that the reason for appointing Prabowo Subianto's nephew as Deputy Minister of Finance II is an effort by the elected president to secure fiscal policy.

"If we look at some, for example, at the Ministry of Finance, of course it has something to do with securing fiscal policies for future governments," he explained.

Furthermore, Faisal said that especially for the free nutritious food program launched by Prabowo-Gibran. Recently, he said, the program has indeed attracted public attention.

"If we hear in the media in public and now it is also very busy to discuss of course what programs are the mainstay of the new government, namely eating nutritious free of charge," he said.
