The Ministry Of Transportation Ensures That The Return Of The Last Group Of The Surabaya Debarkation Hajj Pilgrims Runs Safely

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has ensured that the last batch of Surabaya Hajj pilgrims is running safely. A total of 333 of the last batch of pilgrims arrived in Indonesia through the debaration of Juanda International Airport yesterday.

The last 333 pilgrims came from Pamekasan, Sidoarjo, Surabaya, and Gresik. Hundreds of pilgrims returned to Indonesia using Saudi Airlines.

Head of the Airport Authority (KOBU) Region III Surabaya, Rizal, ensured that the return of the pilgrims in batch 106 went well, safely and fulfilled all aspects of security and safety.

Rizal said this could not be separated from good coordination and synergy from all relevant stakeholders during the Hajj air transportation period in 2024.

"Coordination between agencies and related stakeholders such as immigration, the ministry of religion, airport and airline organizers on Hajj transportation is going very well in Surabaya," Rizal said in an official statement, Tuesday, July 23.

Rizal continued that On Time Performance or OTP obtained by Saudi Arabian Airlines during the return period or debarkation of Hajj in Surabaya received very good numbers.

Untuk kepulangan, OTP yang dicapai Saudi Airlines ini mencapai 100 persen. Ini terjadi karena Saudi Airlines sering kali melaksanakan penerbangan dan tiba di Indonesia melebihi jadwal jadwal yang sudah ditentukan, ungkapnya.

Based on the data received, Surabaya's embarkation has flown a total of 38,735 worshipers and 529 officers which are divided into 106 groups. The number of pilgrims who died in Saudi Arabia was 81 people, on planes 2 people and in the country as many as 5 people.

In addition, continued Rizal, there are still 11 pilgrims who are sick and undergoing treatment in Saudi Arabia and as many as 3 pilgrims who are sick in their homeland.

"For 11 sick pilgrims who are currently receiving treatment which is the responsibility of the Saudi Arabian government, they will be sent home on a regular flight schedule after recovering and ready to travel," said Rizal.

Overall, continued Rizal, the implementation of Hajj air transportation, especially from the Surabaya embarkation, did not find any significant obstacles. However, this achievement will continue to be improved for a better period of Hajj transportation next year.

"In the future, what needs to be evaluated is the initial process at the time of departure, which includes the security aspect, we will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Religion to socialize what items are not allowed to be brought to the plane, so that the process runs faster and better," concluded Rizal.
