Luhut: Launches Simbara For Environmental Problems To RI Mining Sector Workers

JAKARTA - The government officially launched a Mineral and Coal Information System between Ministries and Institutions (Simbara) today, Monday, July 22. At the launch this time, the government specializes in nickel and tin commodities after previously being successful with coal.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said there are many benefits that can be obtained with the launch of Simbara. Starting from state revenues to related to mining criteria requested by export destination countries.

"So, in my opinion, state revenue is very large, the figure has already been mentioned. But, the most important thing is not only revenue, but for environmental problems we will immediately link it," Luhut said at a press conference at the Simbara Launch event which was held at the Dhanapala Building, Jakarta, Monday, July 22.

Luhut added that the launch of Simbara is also expected to answer problems regarding workers' problems. He hopes that in the future there will be no more workers in the mining sector who are still minors.

"So, don't work for minors. So, really our mine is in accordance with the criteria requested by the countries of destination (export)," he added.

Meanwhile, Simbara is a form of synergy from ministries/agencies for better mineral and coal governance, in which there is an integrated surveillance ecosystem for all management and supervision applications as well as the estuary of mineral and coal data.

Simbara integrates the process starting from taxpayer and pay-payer single identities, mining licensing processes, sales plans, sales verification, PNBP payments, exports and transportation or shipments as well as export foreign exchange.
