JAKARTA - The government officially launched the Mineral and Coal Information System between Ministries and Institutions (Simbara) today, Monday, July 22. At the launch this time the government specializes in nickel and tin commodities after previously being successful with coal.

In his remarks, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif revealed that the government will soon include other commodities such as copper, gold and manganese into this system.

"Furthermore, we will still complete several commodity minerals, including copper, then gold, bauxite, manganese, and others," said Arifin in his remarks, Monday, July 22.

Arifin further said that the SIMBARA launch was important for the mineral and coal sector because it was able to make business processes better, more efficient and transparent and integrated from upstream to downstream.

Arifin said, the launch of this system also marks the government's commitment to building better, more reliable, more efficient, and transparent natural resource governance.

Arifin also said that since Law number 3 of 2020 concerning mining was implemented, where the authority to switch to the center, licensing services could not be optimal without using an information system.

"Some information systems in the mineral and coal sector that have been developed, among others, are I conveyed earlier, MODI, MOMI, EPNBP. This EPNBP serves 120,000 transactions in one year," explained Arifin.

Arifin hopes that the use of this system can have a positive impact not only on optimizing state revenues and increasing the effectiveness of joint supervision between ministries and institutions, but also in realizing ecosystems that are able to oversee government policies, improving service quality to business actors through single entry data and utilizing one reliable and accurate mineral and coal data across ministries and institutions.
