JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) temporarily confiscated 25,257 loudspeakers or active speakers worth Rp. 10.2 billion because they do not have a Product Certificate for the Use of the Indonesian National Standard Sign (SPPT-SNI).

Head of the Standardization Agency for Industrial Services Policy of the Ministry of Industry Andi Rizaldi revealed that as many as 25,257 active speaker units were secured from three business actors, namely, PT BSR with 24,099 units with a value of around Rp. 8.5 billion, PT SEI with 353 units with a value of around Rp. 1.4 billion and PT PIS with 805 units with a value of Rp. 281.7 million.

These findings are related to the non-compliance of business actors in fulfilling the sNI provisions stated in Law Number 3 of 2014 concerning Industry and Regulation of the Minister of Industry (Permenperin) Number 15 of 2018 concerning the Implementation of SNI Audio Videos and Electronics in a mandatory manner.

"The three of them are required to stop import activities and are prohibited from distributing these products," said Head of BSKJI Kemenperin Andi Rizaldi in a statement, Saturday, July 20.

As for the results of supervision of PT BSR, PT SEI and PT PIS in July 2024 in Jakarta, it shows that there are active speaker products resulting from imports from China that do not have SPPT-SNI.

Andi said that the absence of SPPT-SNI in these products is feared to endanger the safety and security of users and harm domestic producers.

"Products that do not have SPPT-SNI have the potential to harm consumers and cause unfair business competition. We will not tolerate this kind of violation," said Andi.

According to Andi, the Ministry of Industry is committed to continuing to supervise and enforce law on products that do not comply with the provisions through cooperation with related ministries and institutions.

He is also determined to continue to improve the quality of supervision and ensure that every product circulating in the market meets the standards set. Andi assessed that supervision is the key to protecting consumers and the domestic industry.

"We will continue to coordinate with related parties to ensure law enforcement is effective," he added.
