BPH Migas Encourages Improvement Of Domestic Jargas Infrastructure Utilization

JAKARTA - The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) encourages increased utilization of natural gas network infrastructure (jargas) households because it has proven to have provided direct benefits to the community.

"Based on communication with customers, they are greatly helped and feel comfortable using jargas. BPH Migas also continues to encourage PT PGN to increase jargas utilization so that more people will feel the benefits," said Member of the BPH Migas Committee Wahyudi Anas in his statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, July 13.

During the "Monitoring and Evaluation of Transportation Business Supervision/Niaga Gas Bumi and Household/Small Crossing Jargas" activities in Medan, North Sumatra, on Thursday-Friday (11-12/7), Wahyudi said that there were 47,948 household connections (SR), both built through the State Budget and the PGN's Sayang Ibu Program.

He continued, based on the results of field visits, the jargas user community can cook with the available fuel 24 hours.

"Cooking together at the home of jargas customers, when there are families or neighbors who have difficulty getting other fuels, is proof that jargas is useful because customers do not need to be afraid of running out of fuel. There are many other benefits that can be obtained from the use of this gas cylinder, so the number of customers must continue to be increased," he added.

During his visit, Wahyudi also monitored the regulatory system meter (MRS) and the regulation system (RS) in Medan Denai District, as well as Pasar IX Gas Station, Deli Serdang, to ensure smooth gas supply in the Medan area and its surroundings.

The allocation of natural gas for the Medan region, among others, comes from Pertamina Hulu Energi North Sumatra Offshore (PHE NSO), Pemap Global Energi, Triangle Energi, and Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) Regional 1.

"Gas diterima di Stasiun Gas Pasar IX dan selanjutnya dibagikan ke zona masing-masing pelanggan, baik itu rumah tangga, komersial, dan industri. Alhamdulillah, pengelolaan gas di wilayah ini berjalan lancar dan aman," kata Wahyudi.

Member of the BPH Migas Committee, Iwan Prasetya Adhi, added that household jargas customers also benefit from cheaper expenses than LPG.

Iwan also said that the construction of the Dumai-Sei Mangkei gas pipeline transmission, which is part of a national strategic project (PSN) and is expected to be completed in 2027, has opened up opportunities for new jargas customers of 600 thousand SR.

"PT PGN is expected to anticipate the construction of the Dumai 'Sei Mangkei' pipeline. For example, look for more intensive customer candidate data so that later when the pipe is built, it already has data to develop gas networks using this infrastructure," he said.

Meanwhile, PGN Sales and Operation (SOR) Regional Head of Sales & Customer Management (SOR) I Misbachul Munir said that his party is committed to continuing to increase the use of household jargas.

"We appreciate the BPH Migas monitoring and evaluating the distribution of gas in Medan. PGN is committed to always improving services in utilizing natural gas for the needs of the community in Medan," he said.

During a series of working visits, the BPH Migas Committee also supervised the distribution of fuel at two gas stations in Deli Serdang, which were also attended by Sales Branch Manager of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Area Medan Staleva Daulay.

On this occasion, Iwan checked the suitability of the data on requests and distribution of subsidized fuel and compensation and reminded the gas station to carry out its business activities according to applicable regulations.
