Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Encourages The Advancement Of The Logistics Industry For The Country And Asia Pacific Through FIATA-RAP 2024

JAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin encouraged the promotion of the logistics industry in Indonesia and Asia Pacific through the 2024 Asia Pacific Federation of International Freight Forwards Associations Regional Pacific (FIATA - RAP).

Vice President in his statement in Jakarta, on Saturday, July 13, said the potential of the logistics industry in the Asia Pacific region was supported by economic growth, as well as increasing trading volume. However, it must continue to pay attention to global economic uncertainty, geopolitical conflicts, and fluctuations in the exchange rate of currency so that the investment climate in this sector is maintained.

To spur the advancement of the logistics industry in Indonesia and regionally, the Vice President conveyed that there are three things that must be done, including the need for adaptation and technological innovation by prioritizing the principle of digital transformation, so as to improve business efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness.

Furthermore, an adequate increase in investment in human resource training (HR) for workers who directly encourage promotion in this sector.

"Third of strengthening policy and regulatory reform that is in harmony between agencies so as to create a conducive business climate," said the Vice President, quoted from Antara.

Furthermore, the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi conveyed that in order to maintain the ecosystem in the logistics sector, the Indonesian government has built a National Logistic Ecosystem (NLE) which is expected to be able to align the flow of goods traffic and international documents ranging from arrivals, means of transportation, to goods arriving at warehouses, as well as to integrate document licensing through a single submission system.

The challenges of the logistics industry are increasingly diverse, ranging from adaptation to technology, to the dynamics of the global market which continues to change. Budi emphasized the importance of efficiency in the logistics transportation sector," he said.

Meanwhile, General Chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Arsjad Rasjid reminded that the logistics sector has become the lifeblood of business growth in the country. So collaboration and synergy between the government and industry players are important in ensuring the sustainability and resilience of logistics business.

"Without good and efficient logistics, our economy cannot fly high. Apart from maintaining growth, the industry needs to protect our earth with an energy transition in the logistics sector. Kadin certainly welcomes FIATA-RAP 2024 very well," he said.

On the other hand, FIATA-RAP 2024 Chairman Yukki N. Hanafi said that the Asia Pacific region is faced with significant challenges such as increasingly stringent regulations, trade wars and changing market dynamics.

However, according to him, with collaboration between the government, industry players, and the community, it can create an efficient and sustainable logistics ecosystem.

For information, FIATA RAP 2024 is an event held by the Federation of International Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) and the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI/ILFA).

This event brought together more than 200 logistics industry players in the Asia Pacific region which was held on Thursday 11 July in Bali.
