The Ministry Of PUPR's Steps To Face Bad Weather During The August 17 Ceremony At IKN

JAKARTA - The development of infrastructure in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) is known to be a little late. This is due to the bad weather factor, namely continuous rain In fact, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is rumored to be directly leading the ceremony to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in the archipelago.

So, how is the anticipation of the Ministry of PUPR in dealing with bad weather during the August 17 Ceremony?

Chairman of the IKN Infrastructure Development Planning Task Force of the Ministry of PUPR, Imam Santoso Ernawi, claimed that his party in establishing the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) from the start was indeed looking for locations that were free from flooding.

"So at the beginning of this location determination, we talked about KIPP first, yes. We have determined the location at the beginning, which is indeed flood-free for hundreds of years, approximately like that. Well, we have determined the location is like that," said Imam in a press conference held online, Thursday, July 11.

However, Imam also did not deny the need for a number of anticipations to deal with things that were not desirable, such as puddles or floods. "But, we are also aware of what if there will be heavy rain. Then, how do we see if there are puddles and so on," he said.

Imam said that around KIPP there are a number of places that can be used as places for water parking. "There will be several places where there are reservoirs. So, the retention ponds that we built are places later for water parking," he said.

In addition, said Imam, his party also plans to design drainage in the area by utilizing gravity and so on.

"We are trying to take advantage of all the potentials of existing water resources and how to handle urban drainage. We have prepared all of them," he said.

According to him, the flood incident around Sepaku Market Semoi, which happened some time ago, is a lesson so that it doesn't happen again later. He also ensured that during the flood, activities were also being carried out to deal with flooding.

"Indeed, if you look at the incident (flood) like yesterday, it (the location) is outside KIPP. Actually it is near the Sepaku Market, it is also being carried out to deal with floods there. It has been going on too, the process for flood prevention there," he added.
