The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) inspects 388 tourism bus units throughout Indonesia during the long school holidays.
"During the school holidays from June 22 to July 6, every weekend we continue to monitor and inspect tourism buses operating on the road. There are 388 buses inspected," said Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation Risyapudin Nursin as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 9.
Of the 388 tourism buses examined, he said, 198 bus fleets were found to have violated it.
He said the violations committed included that as many as 11 buses did not meet the technical requirements for roadworthy, 104 buses did not meet the licensing administration aspect and 83 vehicles did not meet the administrative aspects of licensing and roadworthiness requirements.
He admitted that this was his side's attention going forward with all stakeholders. As for law enforcement, his party cooperates with the police.
In addition, Risyapudin emphasized that he did not hesitate to take firm action against autobus companies (POs) or drivers who were negligent in the applicable regulations.
"Moreover, this is the holiday season for school children where there are many tourist trips to tourist sites," explained Risyapudin.
Along with surveillance activities, the Ministry of Transportation also conducts socialization to tourism bus entrepreneurs, drivers, as well as passengers or service users related to the use of the Mitra Darat application and partner website.dephub.go.id as one of the media checking permits and the feasibility of the bus fleet.
"Now the existence of technology makes it easier for us to help check the condition of the bus fleet either for use or not and it is better for service users not to be tempted by cheap prices," he added.
