JAKARTA - Subholding of power plants owned by PT PLN (Persero), PLN Nusantara Power recorded electricity production in 2023 reaching 66.8 million Mega Watt hour (MWh) of electrical energy.
This performance reached 113 percent of the set target or a total of 58.9 million MWh.
President Director of PLN Nusantara Power Ruly Firmansyah said that this number increased by 291 percent compared to 2022 where the company succeeded in producing electricity of 17 million MWh.
"As the largest generating subholding in Southeast Asia, we are committed to carrying out the company's operations seriously. All NP PLN employees have been determined and committed to providing electrical energy to illuminate the region, efficiently, precisely, and based on environmentally friendly principles," said Ruly, Tuesday 9 July.
Ruly added, throughout 2023 it will also be a year of clean energy for PLN NP. The accumulation of 25 generating units has been piloted on the implementation of co-firing; coal substitution technology with biomass; which accelerates the fulfillment of the new and renewable energy mix (EBT) of 23 percent by 2025.
Among them, 24 units have successfully gone live commercial co-firing. Noted, PLN NP has produced 511 GWh of clean energy from co-firing or the equivalent of reducing carbon emissions by 533,291.79MT.
The production of co-firing electricity is also a portion of the company's net power production which totals 5,666 Gigawatt hour (GWh) from the new renewable energy-based generating unit (EBT).
Clean energy supply is also produced from water and solar-based generating units owned by PLN NP such as PLTA Brantas, PLTA Cirata, and PLTS Terapung Cirata which are the largest floating PLTS in Southeast Asia with a capacity of 192 MWp and PLTS IKN 10 MW which have also been operating and followed by 40 MW which are in the process of being developed.

In 2023, PLN NP has successfully completed one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) of the Cirata Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) which is the pride of the Indonesian nation. PLTS is able to avoid 214,000 tons of co2 every year.
"Through the IKN PLTS, we will be able to avoid 104.8 tons of co2 emissions every year. In the future, more and more of our projects will be based on EBT," concluded Ruly.
