JAKARTA - PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) conveyed that the Fakfak fertilizer industrial project in Arguni District, Fakfak Regency, West Papua is in the process of land acquisition.

"This is still the process of land acquisition," said Director of Portfolio and Business Development of Pupuk Indonesia Jamsaton Nababan in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, July 4.

According to him, the fertilizer industrial area development project in Fakfak is a National Strategic Project (PSN).

"Because this is PSN, so we are in the process of obtaining permission for land acquisition," he said.

In the process of land acquisition, Pupuk Indonesia coordinates with the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves).

"We are coordinating with the Ministry of ATR/BPN, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment," said Jamsaton Nababan.

For information, President Jokowi appreciates the construction of this factory as a step to encourage economic development in Eastern Indonesia. He hopes that equity will be more massive so that the gap in being able to be suppressed in West Papua Province and its people will be more prosperous.

The construction of the fertilizer industry area on an area of 2,000 hectares is targeted to be completed in 2028. Production capacity for ammoniaia products is 2,500 metric tons per day (MTPD) and Urea is 3,500 MTPD.

With an investment value plan of approximately IDR 30 trillion, the project is expected to encourage new economic growth in the West Papua region through increasing added value (value added) to natural gas commodities owned by Papua, creating jobs and community empowerment, and supporting the national security program.

The Pupuk Fakfak Industrial Estate project will also be the first fertilizer industrial area to be built in Indonesia after 40 years or the last in 1982 in Aceh.
