JAKARTA - The tangker ship conversion project to Floating Storage Production and Offloading (FPSO) or the storage and demolition units of floating oil and gas production located in the Pan Ocean PT Dok shipyard area, the First legacy in Tanjung Uncang, Batam City, Riau Islands has entered the commissioning or partial testing stage.

Just so you know, the project to convert Tangker ships to FPSO is a project that was first carried out in Indonesia, carried out by local workers.

Later, the conversion from the tanker to FPSO will be carried out to accommodate forel oil from the Natuna project, Riau Islands. This FPSO has a production capacity of 250,000 BOPD, named FPSO Marlin Natuna.

Head of SKK Migas, Dwi Soetjipto said the construction or conversion of Tangker Ships to FPSO was part of an important effort by SKK Migas and KKKS Medco Energi to increase oil and gas production capacity to support the availability of national energy.

"This FPSO was built to increase gas production and is planned to go sailing in August, and is used during the Onstream Forel project in the fourth quarter of 2024," said Dwi in a statement received by VOI, Thursday, July 4.

Director & Chief Operating Officer of Medco Energi Ronald Gunawan who also accompanied the Head and Management of SKK Migas, said that this FPSO is scheduled to be used at the Forel Area Project in the Natuna Islands with a contribution of 10,000 BOPD.

"We are coordinating with relevant agencies in the completion of the production facility. We are grateful for the support of all parties so that this project continues to run safely," said Ronald Gunawan.

Currently, Medco E&P Natuna is also drilling offshore or offshore wells to develop West Belut and Terubuk gas fields. West Belut is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year, while the Terubuk gas field is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2025.
